This past week we were at three local Kalamazoo farms picking ingredients for the coming Kalamazoo College event, Rockin’ the Dock (September 16th). These ingredients are for the three flavors we will be offering at the event:
For the K College Butternut Squash gelato, we spent time at Wiley’s farms gathering squash and conversing with one of the long-time owners, Caroline Wiley.
For the Lemon-blueberry, we were at Fritz’s Blueberry farm hand picking some of the last remaining blueberries for the season.
For the Peach sorbet, we talked with the local tractor at Skyline Orchards to figure out where the best peaches are in the orchard.
Also, we like the name of the event…it has the hypen “in'” in the name, just like Rollin’ Gelato’s name. 🙂
