Saturday October 6 we are happy to be part of the food vendors who were invited to participate in the Portage Cross Country Invitational. October 6 is also the last day of the 2018 season for Rollin’Gelato In Kalamazoo, Michigan.
As I was pondering on ideas of what flavors to offer on that super active day, it dawned on me that I often create recipes for different reasons other than just for selling our products. I like to share with you all that I seek to bring a smile; introduce good ingredients , especially to the young ones to intice them to look beyong the vanilla and chocolate. I also enjoy intriguing the taste buds of our customers that leads to a conversation with them in order to understand more and more what they truly like.
This time though it is all about flavors that will be nutritious to the runners post-race. For this reason, we are introducing peanut butter with whey protein powder gelato as well as tart cherries at 70% and dark cherries at 30% with cherry/cranberry 100% juice to replace the water in our sorbet. I learned, recently, that tart cherries are anti-inflamatory, antioxidant and very essential to the muscles for runners, cyclists and triathletes. Peanut butter provides necessary fat and nutrients and cherries help with faster recovery after tough workout and leads to a decrease in muscle pain.
October 6, We are happy to bring 11 flavors (8 gelatos and 3 sorbets) and this more than we would normally offer.
Come enjoy the following as we will be with our “Pistachio-bus” all day at this special event:
Gelato: Lemon; chocolate; Pistachio with orange zest; Peanut butter with chocolate sauce on top; coffee-bourbons; Mocha with spices; Apple with caramel-dulce de leche on top; Lemon blueberries infused with green tea.
Sorbet: Raspberries, Strawberries; cherries
Best to all and to all, simple pleasures in life.
