Is our gelato gluten-free?

Yesterday, at the Texas Township Farmers’ Market I was asked by several people if our gelato was gluten-free.  I didn’t know, but I did know that we didn’t specifically make the gelato gluten-free.  So I told the patrons that the gelato wasn’t gluten-free just to be on the safe side. I didn’t want to say that our gelato was gluten-free, have them buy it, and then find out that our gelato wasn’t gluten-free.

So, today, while hunting for VW Buses in the Michigan country-side (Bloomingdale, Michigan area :-), Widad and I talked about if our gelato was gluten-free.  She was rather sure that it was, but had one concern, which was with the stablizer we use.  We buy it the stablizer from a company in Florida.

When we got back home, Widad looked at the ingredients and paperwork of the stablizer and found that it didn’t contain anything that would contain gluten.  Yeah!!! We now know that the flavors we have currently developed are gluten-free.

That means, the next time that a patron asks one of us if our gelato is gluten-free, we can say with confident that our gelato IS GLUTEN-FREE.
