Here is a story I would like to share …It holds true that what you do will come around back to you.
Our first day at the farmers market this season in Kalamazoo was in May. It was cold and rainy day, as it can be in early May in Michigan. That evening after the market was over, I decided to buy a Papa Murphy’s pizza for dinner. At Papa Murphy’s, there were two ladies (a mother and daughter) who were also waiting to have their pizza made and ready. We smiled at each other and after a few minutes, I found myself starting a conversation and sharing with them what I do and how the day was slow as it was raining and a cold (when it is raining or the temperatures go below 60 degrees, sales drop considerably at the farmers’ markets for gelato).
Sometime into the conversation I asked them if they would like some gelato. We stepped outside, got to the car, and I reached deep into my freezer for couple of cups of gelato — all the while three of us were getting wet and laughing at the same time. After handing them the gelato, each of us had our pizzas ready, and we said goodbye, wishing each other a good pizza dinner.
Fast forward to yesterday, and it was raining continuously while I sat in the RG VW bus at the Kalamazoo Farmers’ Market. I was trying to stay dry when two ladies (a mother and daughter) came to me and the mother said to me, :”do you remember us? You gave us gelato at Papa Murphy’s a while back and we were looking for you. We finally figured out where to find you; in fact, my husband, with whom I shared the Coffee-Bourbon Gelato which you gave me, told me I should absolutely find you. And here I am”. I responded : “I definitely remember both of you and that evening was fun.”
Those ladies brightened up my day along with the family members they brought with them. They were able to try new flavors, and to chose the ones they liked the most. 🙂
It is these types of situations which keep me moving forward, bringing smiles on the faces of our clients – who inadvertently become friends. And, the best part is they reciprocate with a smile and create a corner of blue sky in my heart that no rain can dampen.
